Many patients diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis are often told their spinal canal, the bony passage within the vertebrae, is too narrow and compresses the nerves passing through. However, this is commonly a misconception.
They are frequently advised that surgery, such as a laminectomy to remove part of the spine, is the only effective solution to relieve spinal canal pressure. This is also often incorrect.
After examining hundreds of severe spinal stenosis cases, we’ve found that nerve compression usually occurs between the vertebrae, which we call Intersegmental Stenosis, rather than inside the bony canal itself, known as Intrasegmental Stenosis.
At our spinal stenosis center, a recent study revealed that patients with Intersegmental Stenosis respond well to our spinal decompression program—even those who previously didn’t find success with surgery, injections, physical therapy, or chiropractic care (research abstract available upon request).
Patients with Intersegmental Stenosis typically experience relief by sitting or bending forward, which enlarges the space between vertebrae and eases pressure. Those with Intrasegmental Stenosis often do not find relief in these positions.
Our program aims to create lasting changes in the space between vertebrae. Cases involving Intrasegmental Stenosis often require surgical interventions such as laminectomy. Unfortunately, many doctors don’t distinguish between these types and treat all spinal stenosis patients the same.
The Morris Spinal Stenosis Decompression Program is unique nationwide. Over three to five months, it combines multiple treatments in a carefully structured way:
- Targeted physical therapy focusing on lengthening tight back muscles, scar tissue, and soft tissues compressing the spine.
- Spinal alignment techniques from physical medicine and chiropractic care designed to increase the spinal canal diameter.
- A strengthening regimen to support the spine and maintain canal openness against gravity.
- Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression using the DRX 9000 device to reduce disc herniations and improve disc blood flow. The DRX 9000 generates negative pressure nearly three times greater than traditional spinal traction.
- Rehabilitation including computerized, home, and gym training to sustain spinal canal health.
We are actively engaged in a multi-year spinal stenosis study aiming to improve ineffective current treatment protocols.
Results from our program have been remarkable:
- 84% of patients with severe low back pain, unresponsive to other treatments including surgery and injections, showed significant improvement.
- Average pain levels dropped from 7.7 to 2.2 on a 10-point scale.
- Nerve damage signs reversed in many cases: reflexes returned in 70% and sensation improved in 40% of affected legs and feet.
- Most patients could stand and walk longer with reduced or no pain medication.
- Improvements were maintained well into the 2-3 year follow-up period.
If you suffer from spinal stenosis, it’s essential to get evaluated at our center to determine if your condition can be truly improved—not just masked with medications. Surgery may not always be necessary, but only a proper assessment will clarify this.
Many patients who have completed our program now enjoy longer walks and standing times without heavy medication, dramatically improving their quality of life. Please share this information with those who might be enduring improper treatment and a declining lifestyle.
